The FoneFox team from Australia did a waterproof test for Apple Watch Sport Collection. They tried to test Apple’s claim in which Apple Watch has IPX7 water-resistant rating, which means it can withstand 1 meter of submersion for 30 minutes. Their detail test was to leave Apple Watch under light shower and under heavy shower with soap. After Apple Watch was wiped down, they found that Apple Watch is still working normal and its display is still responsive.

The next test was to put an Apple Watch inside the bucket full of water for 5 minutes, and they found the Apple Watch is working fine. Then, they were curious with the resistance of Apple Watch Sport and took it for a swim. Furthermore, they left the Apple Watch in the swimming pool, so that the total time in the water was 15 minutes. The result, they found Apple Watch working normally. From all tests they have done, they focused on the display responsiveness and digital crown.

There were some of the things they didn’t check, but important also i.e button next to the digital crown for contact, speaker and microphone. Whether those 3 hardware still working normal or not after the tests? But anyway, what they have done on tests shows that the resistance of Apple Watch in the water is praiseworthy. Moreover, that is the first video that shows how good Apple Watch is when it comes to the important matter such performance in the water is. Previously, many people doubted that Apple Watch really is water. Let’s wait for more comprehensive test for those 3 other hardware I’ve mentioned above, and two other Apple Watch models, Apple Watch stainless steel and Apple Watch Edition.
