Apple is planning to exhibit the new Apple Watch bands and update the new watchOS on the Apple event in March while the Apple Watch 2 will be announced this fall according to 9to5mac. This is in line with the previous report, which said that Apple Watch 2 will not appear in the Apple event.
Apple is likely still focusing on several things to maximize the current Apple Watch than to announce the new one. The current Watch will get more color options, bands made out of the new materials, and possibly additional partnerships similar to the one Apple has with Hermes.
The previous report also said that Apple will announce the minor addition to the hardware of the Apple Watch first gen. The first gen will have a Facetime camera, but its design will remain the same.
“I’ve now heard a bit more that suggests that Apple might ship a minor revision of the Apple Watch that includes a FaceTime camera and not much else — but still that it would not be a full “Watch 2.0” with casing changes and major improvements,” the Techcrunch report.
Moreover, Apple will also announce the new update of watchOS for Apple Watch. Currently, Apple has released the watchOS 2.2 for developers to be tested. However, we are not sure yet, will Apple announce the other major update for watchOS or not?
