What is a TeamViewer ID?

TeamViewer ID is an ID you get on your device whenever you install the TeamViewer software. It is just like a phone number, no one else has a similar ID, and no one else can access your computer that way. It is known that you cannot change the ID of your device, but there is one trick you can use to change the ID of your device. It requires uninstalling the TeamViewer software and deleting all its files from your devices.

As you have probably assumed, you cannot make the TeamViewer ID you want to use, you will be given one ID that you can use, and that is it. If you want to find out how to reset your ID and get a new one from TeamViewer, head over to the second paragraph of this article now.

Steps to reset your TeamViewer ID on your Mac device

You first need to uninstall your TeamViewer software application on both your computer and on another device to which that computer was remotely connected. You can follow these simple steps to uninstall this software from your devices completely:

  • You will have to open up the TeamViewer software application on your devices first.
  • Once the app has loaded onto your device, find the TeamViewer logo on it (it should be located in the top left corner of your screen) so that you can expand and uncover some options.
  • Now, you should see that the options in that menu are separated into different sections. Find Preferences or the Advanced settings and open them by clicking on them. You might have to scroll down for a bit until you find them.
  • Finally, when those preferences / advanced settings show up, you should be able to find and see the Uninstall button in that window. If so, click on it and completely uninstall the TeamViewer app from your device. But before that, check the Also delete configuration files box, so all the software’s data is completely gone from your devices.

You can uninstall the TeamViewer app through your control panel or other settings on your device; you do not have to do it straight through the app. It is imperative that the software has been completely removed from both of your devices, or else you will not be able to get a new ID.

After uninstalling and deleting all of the software’s data from your device, you will need to download and install it again. Whenever you install the TeamViewer app on your devices, you get a completely new ID. So, go to this link, click on the Download button once the downloading process has been completed, install the app, and run it. And that is it.
