Solution No.1: Toggle the Airplane mode

There is a very simple trick you can try when experiencing Wi-Fi issues, and no matter how simple and easy this is, it can fix the problem. Press and hold the Power button, and then tap on Airplane mode to turn it on. After a few seconds, press and hold the Power button and turn off the Airplane Mode.

Solution No.2: Toggle Wi-Fi

Before you move forward to some bit more “complicated” solutions, try this: navigate to settings, turn off the Wi-Fi and then turn it back on.

Solution No.3: Restart your HTC One M9

Very often, when we have some problems with our smartphones, we simply restart the device and the problem is gone, so it is always worth trying this. Press the power button on your phone and tap on Restart. You will be asked if you want to do that, confirm by tapping Restart.

Solution No.4: Restart your modem

When it comes to Wi-Fi issues, no matter if the problem is a slow connection or the fact that Wi-Fi is not working at all, it is advisable to restart your router. Just turn it off, and turn it back on a few seconds later.

Solution No.5: Disable the smart network switch

Some people unchecked the option “Smart network switch” and Wi-Fi started to work normally again. You can try this as well, but keep in mind that once you turn off this option and you lose Wi-Fi connection for some reason, it won’t automatically change to the mobile data connection. On the other hand, when this option is turned on, people do experience Wi-Fi problems, and the connection frequently drops. To turn off this option follow the steps below:

  • Enable your mobile data connection
  • Next, go to Settings and tap Wireless
  • Disable “Smart network switch”

Solution No.6: Forget your Wi-Fi network

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and find your network. Tap on it and hold and then click Forget to confirm the action. Once you do this, set up a new connection.

Solution No.7: Check “Keep Wi-Fi on” option

Make sure that the “Keep Wi-Fi on” option is set to “Always”. To do that, go to Settings, tap Wi-Fi, open the menu and tap “Advanced”.

Solution No.8: Uncheck Connections Optimizer

If you are using Sprint network, another thing you can try in order to get rid of Wi-Fi issues on HTC One M9 is this: go to Settings > Mobile Data > Automatic Connections, and uncheck Sprint Connections Optimizer.

Solution No.9: Wipe Phone Cache

To wipe phone cache on HTC One M9, follow the steps below:

  • Turn off your phone
  • Press and hold Volume Down
  • To turn your phone on press and hold the Power button and release it when the phone vibrates but keep holding the Volume Down button
  • Let go of the Volume Down when red and blue lines appear on the screen
  • Press Volume Down Key twice to highlight “reboot to bootloader” option and select it with the Power button
  • The white screen will appear
  • Press the Volume Down button three times to highlight “BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE” and select it using the Power button
  • Again, press Volume button three times and highlight “Wipe the Cache Partition” and select it with the Power button
  • When the process is completed, press the Power button and select the option “Reboot system now”

Solution No.10: Perform a Factory Reset

We can also suggest you to perform a factory reset to fix Wi-Fi issues on HTC One M9, but don’t forget to backup your data first. Now navigate to Settings > Backup & Reset and tap Reset Phone. If you want to delete the files from your SD card as well, select the option “Erase SD Card” and tap OK.
