The Priv from BlackBerry with a physical keyboard and Android OS hit the markets a few months ago. For now, those who bought this elegant device are satisfied, and users did not report many issues. Problems such as battery drain, Wi-Fi and GPS issues, overheating, and frozen apps are let’s say the usual when it comes to smartphones. Such problems bother everyone, not only those who have the Priv. However, there have been some complaints that SMS and MMS not working on BlackBerry Priv. People have troubles with sending the messages, especially group messages, and some reported that they cannot download MMS. Most of the owners who reported this problem are using AT&T network. There are several potential solutions, all listed below.

See if your OS is up to date

If there is a new software version available, it is advisable to download it and install it. To see if there is an update, go to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check for update. If there is a new version, follow the on-screen steps and update your OS.

Update apps

Make sure that all the apps you have  are up to date. Just open the Play Store and click on three horizontal lines which are located in the upper-left corner to open the Menu. Now tap on My apps & Games > Install and choose “Update All”.

Disable HD calling

If you are using AT&T network, you will have to contact customer support and ask them to disable HD calling feature. You will have to turn off this feature on the device as well, just go to Settings > More > Cellular > Enhanced.

Use Hangouts

For some people, the problem with SMS and MMS disappeared once they switched to Hangouts. Try it out.

Factory Reset

Quite a few people said that they fixed the issue with Factory reset. If you choose to do this, don’t forget to back up the files that are important to you because factory reset will wipe out your device. Go to Settings > Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset and select the option “Reset phone”.
