Turn off background app refresh

Background app refresh is a feature on iOS devices that keeps on updating the apps in the background so that as soon as you launch an application, data becomes available instantly. But this feature is one of the main reasons for iPhone 5c and iPhone 5S battery drain. So you can turn off this option for some of the apps that are not in use. Or else find out which app is using this feature most and turn off the background app refresh for that app. It can be done by going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and turn off the option for those apps one by one that is using more power.

Restart the iOS device

Whether it is an iPhone 5S battery life or iPhone 5C battery life issue, the problem can be solved by restarting the device. If you notice that your iOS device is becoming too hot or the battery drains, first turn off the device by pressing the power button and swiping the slider to the right. Wait for 10 seconds and turn it on again. You might get rid of the iPad, iPod, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S battery drain issue.

Perform Reset All settings

If you are facing a major battery drain after updating the iPhone with iOS 8.3 and have tried all the above fixes, but could not solve the issue, reset all settings can help you to get rid of it. This step will not delete any data from the device, but all the settings will be set to default. To perform Reset All settings, head to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All settings and provide the passcode if prompted.

Restore iOS 8.3 update

This option is considered as the last option because you will lose all your data from iPhone, iPad and iPod. • Turn off the option ‘find my iPhone’ by going to settings > iCloud > find my iPhone > off.
  • Click on ‘Restore’ in iTunes.

Read the given instruction to successfully install iOS 8.3 from scratch. When the installation is complete, restore the phone either from a backup or set it as a new iPhone.
