Step 1:

The first step should be booting the phone into safe mode. Observe the phone closely in this mode and if the problem exists in Safe mode also, then it might be hardware or firmware issue, either way the next step is factory reset.

To perform a factory reset:

> Turn off your Galaxy S5.

> Press the following buttons: Home key, Volume Up key and Power key and keep holding the buttons.

> Leave the Volume Up and Home buttons when Android Recovery screen appears.

> Highlight factory reset/wipe data option using the Volume Down key.

> Select this option using Power key.

> Highlight “Yes-delete all data” using the Volume down key.

> Select and start master reset using Power key.

> “Reboot system now” will be highlighted when the master reset is completed.

> Restart your Galaxy S5 pressing the Power key.
