Are you looking for solutions for the Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues? If you connect your phone to your car or use the Bluetooth for attending calls and listening to music, then issues with the Bluetooth can become very annoying. It has been noticed that a lot of Nexus 6P users are facing Bluetooth problems on the device. While Bluetooth issues are common on the phone, Google is yet to acknowledge any software or hardware issues that may be causing the problem. So relying on an update to fix the problem may not be the solution.

Before troubleshooting your device, make sure that the problem lies with your phone and not the device you are connecting to. So if you are using Bluetooth headsets, connect them to another phone and check if the headset works on a different phone. If not, then you must look for help fixing the headset rather than your Nexus 6P. However, if your Nexus 6P is not connecting to any device or if the Bluetooth device is connecting fine with other phones, then proceed with our solutions to fix the problem. Let us look at the solutions that have worked for our readers.

Solutions For Nexus 6P Bluetooth Issues

Solution 1: Toggle the Bluetooth

If you are unable to connect your phone to another device with Bluetooth, then pull down the notification shade of your Nexus 6P and tap on the Bluetooth icon to switch it off. Wait for 5 seconds and tap on the icon again to switch it on. Check if your phone is able to establish the connection after toggling Bluetooth. This may be the best way to fix the problem quickly, but the solution may be temporary in nature.

Solution 2: Restart your device

Sometimes, restarting the device can ensure that any glitches with a technology or service in the phone is automatically fixed. Restart your Nexus 6P by pressing and holding the power button till the power menu shows up on the screen. Tap on Restart and allow your phone to restart. Once your device restarts, the Bluetooth connection will automatically be established if your Bluetooth is on, if not then switch on your Bluetooth and try connecting the device. Check if your Bluetooth problem is fixed.

Sporadic Bluetooth connections are often resolved with a restart as well, so if you happen to face intermittent connection problems with your Bluetooth then try restarting your device to fix the problem.

Solution 3: Forget the Bluetooth Device and Reconnect

While restarting may be a quick fix for your phone’s Bluetooth problems, if the issue persists, then try forgetting the device from the list of Bluetooth connections on your device and reconnect. This has solved the Nexus 6P Bluetooth problem for quite a few readers and it may be helpful for you too. Follow these steps to forget the network and reconnect.

  • Go to the Settings menu of your Nexus 6P
  • Tap on Bluetooth and look for the Bluetooth device that you are trying to connect to
  • Long press on the name of the device till you see a drop down menu that allows you to forget the connection
  • Tap on Forget and allow your phone to scan for Bluetooth devices.
  • When the device name comes up on your screen, tap on it to pair the devices
  • Once the pairing is complete, check if the connection works as expected

Solution 4: Remove all Bluetooth Connections from your device

If forgetting and reconnecting did not work for you, then delete all the device names paired to your phone’s Bluetooth and try re-establishing the Bluetooth connection with the device you want once again.

  • Go to the Settings menu of your device
  • Tap on Bluetooth
  • Long press on each device name and tap on remove to forget or delete the device name from the list of Bluetooth devices on your phone.
  • Do this for all the devices till your list is clear.
  • Now switch off the Bluetooth from the top of the screen, and switch it on after 5 seconds.
  • Your phone will automatically scan the area for other Bluetooth devices.
  • Tap on the device you want to connect to and pair your phone.

Doing this should help you fix your Nexus 6P Bluetooth connectivity issues.

Solution 5: Delete Bluetooth Cache

For some Nexus 6P users, the Bluetooth cache was causing the problem and deleting the Bluetooth cache helped in fixing the Bluetooth issue. This is because sometimes, the cache memory of a particular service can get corrupted. When it gets corrupt, it may not work as expected. Since cache files help a phone access apps quickly, but they do not store important data, you can easily delete the cache files and allow the system to create a new one without losing important data. Follow these steps to delete the Bluetooth cache files:

  • Turn off Bluetooth from the notifications panel of your device
  • Head into the Settings menu of your phone
  • Tap on Apps
  • From the tabs, slide left to go to the All Apps tab.
  • Look for Bluetooth and tap on it
  • Tap on Clear cache

Once the cache files have been deleted, Switch on Bluetooth and allow your device to scan the Bluetooth devices and connect to the device you want. Once the connection is established, check if the Bluetooth service is working as expected.

Solution 6: Use Safe Mode to Identify Problems Caused By Third Party Apps

Some third party apps can be the reason why your phone’s Bluetooth is not working properly. These apps may have permission to access your phone’s Bluetooth files, and if the apps have a bug in them, they may affect the manner in which your phone’s Bluetooth works as well. The best way to identify if a third party app is misbehaving is by using the device in Safe Mode.

  • Press and hold the power button on your Nexus 6P till the power options come up on your screen.
  • Touch and hold the Power Off option on the screen till you get a new window on your screen which asks if you would like to Restart in Safe mode
  • Tap on OK

Your device will automatically restart and you will see the words Safe Mode on the screen. Try establishing a Bluetooth connection while your phone is in Safe Mode. If this works then the problem is with an app that you may have recently installed. Restart once again to go back to normal mode and uninstall apps one by one till the problem is fixed.

Solution 7: Reset the device to Factory Settings

The last resort to solve Bluetooth issues on your device is to reset it to factory settings. Since this step will return your phone to its original state when you had first bought it, you will lose all data and apps stored on your device. This is why it is important to create a backup of all the data before you reset your device to factory settings. Once you have created a backup, follow these steps:

  • Go to the Settings menu of your device
  • Tap on Backup and Reset
  • Tap on Factory Reset and allow your phone to delete all information and restart. When it restarts, you will notice that your phone is back to the state when you had first taken it out of the box.

If your Nexus 6P Bluetooth problem is solved after a factory reset then you can restore all your files and use your phone as usual.

These solutions will help you solve the problem if your Bluetooth is not working on Nexus 6P. If none of these steps are able to help you solve the problem, then take your device to a professional who can check for further problems and physically examine your phone for damages. If your phone is under warranty, take it to Google store so that the problem can be fixed without you having to incur any charges.
