How to Fix iPhone X Battery Life Issues

Check Battery Usage

To begin with, you can check how much battery every app on your phone is consuming.

  • Go to Settings > Battery

Apple lets you see the battery consumption of apps for the past week and 24 hours. There will be some apps which will consume more battery such as Facebook or Photo Gallery. Remember they are huge apps and will consume more battery than the others. But if you find more apps draining your phone, then uninstall them and get a different one that offers same services. If you really love that app you can simply offload the app and so the data and settings remain intact when you reinstall them. Follow the steps below.

  • Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > tap on the app you want to offload > Offload App > Confirm.

Now when you reinstall the app all the data and settings of the app will automatically be restored.

Low Power Mode

When the Low Power Mode feature is on, many features on your phone are disabled automatically. Some examples are – mail fetch, background app refresh, Hey Siri, visual effects, automatic downloads etc. You can use this mode in times of emergency when you are not around a power point and need your smartphone turned on. Follow the below instructions to enable Low Power Mode:

  • Go to Settings > Battery > Lower Power Mode and toggle it on.

Location Services Should be Used When Necessary

Another way to address iPhone X battery life issues is to keep the Location services turned off when not necessary. Continuous location tracking puts an immense pressure on the processor and drains out a lot of energy. Many will also find their device heated. It is best that you keep this service off when not in use. Here is what you need to do:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and toggle it off.

Disable Automatic Downloads and Updates

We have many apps that are purchased on different devices but synced with the same iCloud. You definitely want to review the updates or downloads. If you turn this feature off, the battery will last longer. Here is how you can do just that.

  • Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads, toggle them all off.

Try a Hard Reboot

This is a trick that has worked for many and may work for you too. A hard reboot can help in solving iPhone X battery life issues. Here is what you need to do:

  • Press and release the Volume Up button, then do the same with the Volume Down button. Next press and hold the Side button till the Apple logo appears. Your iPhone X will restart in a few seconds.

Avoid Using Dynamic Wallpaper

Animated wallpapers are enchanting and look beautiful but they consume a lot of battery life. Static wallpapers look equally beautiful and don’t cause excessive battery consumption. There is a big collection of beautiful static wallpapers on iPhone X, you can use one which you like.

Disable Background App Refresh

Another way to address iPhone X battery life issues is to disable background app refresh. When apps are continuously updating themselves in the background, it affects the battery life. Even Apple mentions about saving battery life just below the Background App Refresh feature. Here is what you need to do:

  • Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and toggle it off.

As an alternative, if you want one or two apps which you consider important be updated in the background, you can toggle off the feature for every app individually.

  • Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and instead of toggling it off scroll down an toggle the feature off for the apps one at a time.

Manually Control the Brightness of Your iPhone X

Auto-brightness adjusts the brightness of the screen of your smartphone automatically. It detects the lighting of the surroundings you are present in and adjusts the brightness. But some users have noticed that the feature fails to detect the environment several times and is unable to make the necessary adjustment. Once you disable it, the battery will last longer.

Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Auto Brightness and toggle it off.

Keep the Apps on Your iPhone X Updated

Apps that are outdated are sure to cause problems. They not only consume energy they also cause performance and overheating problems on your phone. Ensure that the ones that are installed on your phone are kept up to date. Here is how you can update your apps:

  • Go to App Store
  • Click on Update All button and wait for the updating process to complete.
  • You can also Update them individually by clicking the Update button beside every app.

The above tips are easy to follow and will help you keep the iPhone X battery life issues in check.
