At this moment, Apple reuse and recycling program, also better known as trade-in program, can accept smartphones and PCs from any brand beside Apple. Previously, this program was limited to Apple product only, where the users can upgrade it by doing trade-in to the newest Apple products. On this program, Apple supports the trade-in for almost big manufactures such as Samsung, Nokia, Blackberry, LG, HTC and Sony.

The parties who become Apple’s partner will do an initial review and give a credit estimation that they can get from the products. Of course, those things will be adjusted with the appropriate estimated price seen of age, condition and the product’s brand. Moreover, the estimation of the offer credit could be different for each region or country. If the offer credit is interesting, you can get credits to buy iPhone, iPad or Mac. This program is a significant marketing step from Apple to get more users. Through this program, the users who want to own Apple product like iPhone, iPad or Mac don’t need to throw away their old product or abandon them. They can bring their smartphones or PCs to Apple store directly or online to get the review from the Apple partner third parties to get credit for buying iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Apple re-use and re-cycling program is still limited to certain countries, which at this moment are: US, Canada, UK, Germany, France and Italy. Still not sure whether this program will continue to spread to other countries or not?

Because this strategy is a marketing step which is done by other companies in growing their market and it seems that the program could benefit the switcher.
