Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, has been in the news for a while, with reports suggesting that the device will hit the market sooner than expected. Now, high-quality renders of the device have been published online by Smartprix, providing a closer look at its design.

As per the renders, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will sport a similar design to its predecessor, the Z Fold 4, with no significant design changes expected this year. Reports suggest that this might be a cost-saving measure for Samsung, given that the Z Fold devices have not been big sellers in the market.

However, there are some changes worth noting. The Z Fold 5 is expected to have a waterdrop-style hinge mechanism that will allow the device to fold shut without leaving any gaps between the two halves, reducing the chances of accidental damage to the plastic folding screen. This will result in a slightly thinner body when the device is folded, but it remains to be seen whether this will have any practical benefits for everyday use or the device's toughness.

In terms of specs, the Z Fold 5 will be powered by Qualcomm's Samsung exclusive Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (For Galaxy) chipset, which is expected to provide significant performance and power efficiency improvements over previous Z Fold models. Other returning features include S Pen support and IPX7 water resistance, which set Samsung's foldable phones apart from the competition.

Pricing and availability details for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 are yet to be announced by Samsung.
