NVIDIA to Release More Affordable RTX 4070 Graphics Card
NVIDIA is set to release its standard GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card at a more affordable price, according to sources from VideoCardz. The standard RTX 4070 is said to be priced at $599, which is cheaper than the RTX 4070 Ti, but just as much as the RTX 3070 Ti from 2021.
Although the days of paying $500 or less for an x070 GPU are over, the GeForce RTX 4070 may offer more for your money compared to any 3070 card. It reportedly features the same 5,888 CUDA core count as the regular 3070, a narrower 192-bit memory bus, and a much higher 1.92GHz base clock speed. The RTX 4070 also has more RAM, 12GB compared to 8GB for the 3070, and a higher 29 teraflops of 32-bit floating point computing power, compared to 22 for the 3070 Ti. In addition, the RTX 4070 is expected to use less power than the 3070.
The release of the standard GeForce RTX 4070 in mid-April could finally make Ada-based GPUs more accessible to gamers who have been reluctant to pay $799 or more for the latest GeForce lineup's benefits, including DLSS 3 upscaling. However, it will also continue the trend of increasing prices across the range, with every RTX 40 GPU to date having a reference price at least $100 higher than its RTX 30 equivalent.
It remains to be seen whether the more affordable price of the RTX 4070 will draw in new gamers, but it could prove to be a good option for those looking for a card that offers tangible gains over the previous generation, without having to pay top dollar.
