Tesla Cybertrucks Defaced with Anti-Elon Graffiti in Fort Lauderdale Parking Lot
During the early morning hours on Friday June 21, a group of Tesla Cybertrucks that were parked in a lot in Fort Lauderdale were vandalized in a daring attack. The words "F**k Elon" were painted on the metal outsides of 34 cars, sparking various responses in person and on the internet.
A 35-second video that quickly gained popularity on the Instagram page "Only in Broward" brought attention to the incident. The video displays lines of Cybertrucks with their smooth aesthetics ruined by primitive graffiti.
The camera operator noted that Tesla had recently rented the empty parking lot and began bringing in the cars just three days ago. By the morning of Friday, the previously spotless trucks had been vandalized.
The police are now on the hunt to identify the culprits behind this act of vandalism.
Social media, especially X (formerly known as Twitter), exploded with reactions. Some users defended the Cybertrucks, suggesting the spray paint could be easily removed due to their resilient stainless steel.
Others questioned the wisdom of storing such valuable assets in what they considered an unsafe area. One user remarked that using that lot to store over $1m worth of vehicles was not a safe choice in Fort Lauderdale.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has not commented on the issue yet. Tesla representatives have not responded to requests for comments.
This isn't the first time the Cybertruck has been at the center of controversy. Back in 2019, Musk's live demonstration of the vehicle's armored windows went awry when a metal ball shattered the supposedly shatterproof glass.
More recently, Tesla has faced challenges including significant workforce reductions and critical stock evaluations, with some traders calling it one of the "biggest stock market bubbles" in history.
In spite of these obstacles, the Cybertruck has garnered support in surprising locations. Earlier this month, the Dubai Police General Command included a Cybertruck in their fleet, a move that was praised by both Musk and the official Cybertruck account on social media.
