Today, Huawei introduced the Nova 12 series in China, featuring an impressive lineup comprising the Nova 12, Nova 12 Lite, Nova 12 Pro, and Nova 12 Ultra. This post will delve into the Pro and Ultra models, leaving details about the vanilla and Lite versions for another discussion.

Huawei Nova 12 Ultra: A Visual and Technical Gem

The Nova 12 Ultra boasts a stunning 6.76" LTPO OLED display with a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120Hz and a crisp resolution of 2,776x1,224 pixels. Adorned with Kunlun Glass protection, this screen supports 1 billion colors and showcases a P3-wide color gamut. Notably, a unique center-aligned pill-shaped notch houses two cameras: a 60MP ultrawide (with 100˚ FOV and autofocus) and an 8MP unit (offering 2x optical zoom) for exceptional portraits.

The rear panel is equally captivating, crafted with faux leather, and features a 3D embossing of Huawei and Nova branding. The elliptical camera island hosts an LED flash, a laser focus sensor, a 50MP primary camera, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The primary camera boasts a physically variable aperture (F/1.4~4.0) with an RYYB color filter array, while the ultrawide unit offers a 112˚ FOV. Running HarmonyOS 4 and offering up to 1TB of storage, the Nova 12 Ultra's processor, believed to be the Kirin 9000S, ensures smooth performance.

Beyond aesthetics, the Nova 12 Ultra supports satellite calling and messaging through a two-way Beidou satellite messaging system. This technological marvel is powered by a 4,600 mAh battery, charging rapidly through a USB-C port of up to 100W. Additional features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, dual-band GPS, NFC, and stereo speakers.

Huawei Nova 12 Pro: Style and Functionality in Harmony

The Nova 12 Pro shares similarities with the Ultra but introduces an extra color option, slightly more weight at 201g, and a distinct absence of faux leather on the rear. Offering storage options of 256GB and 512GB, the Nova 12 Pro is priced competitively at CNY3,999 ($560/€510/INR46,560) and CNY4,399 ($615/€560/INR51,200). In contrast to the Ultra, the Pro does not include a 1TB variant.

For eager buyers in China, both phones are available for pre-order on VMall. The Nova 12 Pro hits the market on January 5, 2024, with the Ultra closely following on January 12, 2024. Huawei enthusiasts can anticipate a blend of style and performance in these cutting-edge devices.
