Motorola has announced the release of its latest flagship phone, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. This phone comes packed with the latest technology, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 125W charging, and a 50MP main camera sensor.

While the same hardware was announced in China as the Moto X40, the Edge 40 Pro has a cleaner UI much closer to the stock Android 13 experience. The phone features a 6.67” AMOLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate, 1080p resolution, and 2.5D curved sides, with Gorilla Glass Victus on both the front and back. It also has an under-display fingerprint scanner and a 60MP selfie camera mounted inside a punch hole.

The Edge 40 Pro has two 50MP cameras at the back, with a main unit featuring a 1/1.55" sensor, OIS, and F/1.9 aperture, and a 117-degree FoV ultrawide unit with autofocus, a 1/2.76" sensor, and f/2.2 lens. The third camera features a 12MP 1/2.93" sensor and a 2x f/1.6 telephoto lens.

The phone has a 4,600mAh capacity battery, which is slightly smaller than the Edge 30 Pro. However, the included charger can fill the battery from 0 to 50% in seven minutes and give a full charge in under 20 minutes. Wireless charging reaches 15W, and the phone also supports reverse wireless charging at 5W.

The Edge 40 Pro has LPDDR5X 12 GB RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage, with no room for micro SD. The phone will be available in Europe and Latin America, and it comes with IP68 resistance against water and dust ingress. The phone is 8.6mm thick at the base and weighs just under 200 grams.

The Edge 40 Pro will be available in Blue or Black for €899.99 across Europe “in the coming days,” with availability and pricing varying by country. Motorola is expected to release further details about pricing and availability over the next few days.
