Google Rolls Out Update for Chromecast with Google TV 4K with January 2023 Security Patch
Google has released another update for its Chromecast with Google TV 4K device, which includes the January 2023 security patch level. The update, identified as STTE.221215.004.A1, comes after the previous update in late January, which only provided a minor update and remained on an October 2022 Android security patch level.
The latest update is 152MB, slightly larger than the previous one, and includes bug fixes and performance improvements. The changelog for the update only lists two items, which are the updated security patch level and the bug fixes and performance improvements. Additionally, the Chromecast Remote firmware also received an update, moving from version 26.2 to 26.5.
The previous update earlier this year saw a redesign of the Google TV home screen, which did not require a new operating system version. The redesign included new Quick Settings, similar to those found on Android phones.
It is yet to be determined if the current update addresses any known issues or problems with the Chromecast with Google TV 4K device. However, users are encouraged to provide feedback and comments on whether they notice any changes after installing the update.
Overall, the update aims to improve the performance and security of the Chromecast with Google TV 4K, ensuring that users have a smooth and secure viewing experience.
