Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of a new generative AI accelerator program that will support promising startups around the world. The 10-week program provides startups with access to AWS credits, expert mentors, networking events, and other resources. At the end of the program, participants have the opportunity to pitch their work to potential investors and customers.

Although the program is open to all generative AI startups, AWS recommends that candidates have a basic product ready and some interest from customers. Sign-ups are available worldwide through April 17th, and there are no limits on how the AI is being used.

The company hopes that the accelerator will spur innovation in generative AI and be a "catalyst" for startups to flourish. At the same time, AWS could benefit from increased business as firms that blossom as a result of the program may rely more heavily on its cloud computing platform. Although Amazon currently has only a limited amount of in-house generative AI, its Create with Alexa tool allows users to generate children's stories on an Echo Show smart display.

The program aims to encourage innovation in generative AI, and Amazon is keen to support startups in the field. While Amazon has less pressure to develop its own products than rivals Google and Microsoft, it still stands to profit as long as there is demand for AWS tools.

The accelerator program will help startups in the field to grow and will provide Amazon with inspiration for its own AI work. Sign-ups for the AWS generative AI accelerator program are open until April 17th, and the program will last for 10 weeks.
