Steam beta update brings new features to in-game interface, including cloud-based Notes app
In a recent beta update to Steam, a cloud-based Notes app has been added to the in-game overlay. This feature allows users to save text-based messages, sync them across Steam installations, and pin them to the screen while playing. Users can even edit their notes outside of the game.
Along with the new Notes app, Steam's toolbar and game overview screens have been redesigned. This includes chats, guides, and a full browser that can be opened without closing the game. Any of these can be pinned to the screen for easy access without switching windows.
Steam has also overhauled their notification system, limiting the tray view to new notifications with a more extensive "view all" page elsewhere. The Screenshot Manager has also been improved with faster speeds and options for large or small thumbnails.
Under the hood, Steam's desktop client, Big Picture Mode, and Steam Deck implementations have been given upgrades to ensure faster iterations of changes across all three interfaces.
The beta update is available for download now, and these new features are expected to be included in the standard build within the next few months.
