Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Set to Launch as Pioneering AI-First Laptop
Samsung is reportedly gearing up to launch the Galaxy Book 4 series on December 15th, , which is a whole month earlier than its predecessor. They're aiming to give us the "first AI laptop" title.
This upcoming series is set to incorporate Intel's Meteor Lake processors, featuring the company's debut integrated neural processing unit (NPU) to handle various AI tasks. The laptop is expected to leverage Samsung Gauss, the company's own AI model, to enable on-device AI capabilities. This means that the devices will be equipped to perform AI tasks locally, eliminating the reliance on cloud processing or internet connectivity.
According to Yonhap News, the lineup will utilize Intel Core Ultra processors, a new iteration that will largely replace the Core i5, i7, and i9. While the base model will feature the Core Ultra 7 155H processor, a top-tier model is set to arrive later, equipped with the more powerful Core Ultra 9 158H. Both variants will include a generous 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and Nvidia 40-series GPUs. Notably, the Galaxy Book 4 series will retain its predecessor's design, incorporating upgrades such as an AMOLED display.
Samsung's enthusiasm for Meteor Lake is underlined by its potential to enhance AI capabilities, particularly through the use of the Samsung Gauss large language model (LLM). This marks a significant stride for Samsung, as the Galaxy Book 4 series is likely to be the first device to showcase the Gauss AI model.
In addition to Samsung, LG and HP are also working on Meteor Lake laptops, but may not launch their devices until 2024. This suggests that Samsung's Galaxy Book 4 series is positioned to be among the first laptops featuring Meteor Lake CPUs to hit the market.
The Galaxy Book 4 Ultra is expected to offer different configurations, catering to various consumer needs. The base model, featuring the Core Ultra 7 155H processor and GeForce RTX 4050 GPU, is set to be available earlier, while the higher-spec Core Ultra 9 variant is slated for a later release due to the availability of the i9 SKUs in mid-2024. These configurations aim to provide users with affordable and high-performance options.
As the launch date approaches, tech enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of the Galaxy Book 4 series, anticipating the blend of Intel's cutting-edge Meteor Lake CPUs with Samsung's innovative AI model, promising an elevated computing experience for users.
