Apple is working on making an iPhone without a visible front camera hole. Reports show that Apple's suppliers in Korea are making big progress in creating under-display camera technology. LG Innotek, a leading innovator, is working hard to make future iPhones have a smooth, all-screen look.

The under-display camera technology puts the camera under the screen, keeping the panel looking nice without any visible camera holes when the camera is not being used. However, there are some big technical challenges, especially with how light goes through the screen, which can affect image quality and brightness.

To solve this, LG Innotek is creating a special lens system called "freeform optic" to make images clearer around the edges. They have been working on patents for this system since last year to show how dedicated they are to making new and better things.

LG Display, a part of LG Group, is also working on under-display camera technology. They want to increase how much light can go through the display, aiming to reach 20% by 2023 and 40% by 2024, which matches what Apple wants. Even though Apple got some samples of this technology to test, it seems they didn't work as well as expected at first, showing how tricky it is to make this new and advanced technology perfect.

To get ready for using under-display camera technology, Apple plans to bring in under-panel Face ID in the 2025 iPhone 17 Pro. This is a big step toward moving to a design with all screen. This change will make it possible for them to use under-display cameras in the 2027 "Pro" iPhone models, as said by an industry expert named Ross Young from Display Supply Chain Consultants.

Creating a notchless iPhone is exciting, but there are big technical challenges to overcome. Apple and its suppliers are working on these challenges and using advanced under-display camera technology to change the way smartphones look and feel, bringing immersive, all-screen experiences to people all over the world.
