Google Search undergoes AI overhaul to resemble Bing's chatbot interface
Google Search undergoes AI overhaul, set to resemble Microsoft Bing's chatbot interface. The search engine will incorporate AI to provide supplementary information in response to a user's query.
Google is also adding recommendations along with facts, allowing for more specific search results. The conversational mode will also be available, providing follow-up queries and other search results. Supplementary results in a sidebar will show users which merchants have the product in stock and their policies.
Google's PaLM 2 model will drive both Google Search and its Bard chatbot. A search will now appear more like a conversation as Google Search looks to be a front door to Bard.
Users can try the updated search engine by tapping the labs icon in the latest Google app or the Chrome desktop. This will put users on the waitlist, where they will be able to test it out at a later date.
